Hairpieces and the LGBTQ2S+ community

Posted by Superhairpieces on 2022 Jun 14th

The LGBTQ2S+ community is an incredibly varied group of people, coming from all walks of life and areas across the globe. With a group so diverse in age and circumstance, it's only natural that members of the community would deal with hair loss. Wigs, hair systems, hair toppers, and hair extensions allow for this hair loss to be covered and a full head of hair to be restored. But how does this relate to the LGBTQ2S+ community specifically?

Historically, and largely still to this day, the LGBTQ2S+ community faces opposition to expressing their true selves. The right to freedom of expression plays a central role in the ongoing fight for LGBTQ2S+ equality, and hair has always been a huge part in how people visually express themselves. From colour, to style, to length, hair has been used for centuries to help convey gender identity and sexuality.

At Superhairpieces, we recognize the importance of being able to show who you are on the inside to everyone on the outside in whatever way you’re comfortable with. As a company, we provide beautiful hair in a judgement-free environment, with no discrimination towards anyone who wants to make a purchase or requires assistance.

Hair and wigs have always been a part of LGBTQ2S+ culture, from the glamorous wigs you might see a drag queen sport on stage, to the short cropped hair some of the women wore in the protests that kicked off the Pride movement as a whole. Superhairpieces is proud to provide realistic hair replacement solutions to those that use hair as a part of their identity expression, no matter what that identity is.

What are the best hairpieces for the LGBTQ2S+ community?

Diversity is one of our strengths at Superhairpieces. From our staff to the clientele we serve, Superhairpieces offers hairpieces for everyone regardless of what you identify as. These include hair systems, full cap wigs and hair toppers.

One of them is the P41 hair topper which comes with a clear see through poly skin base. This helps make the top piece very durable while allowing for glue or tape as attachment options. With a hair length of 16" and 120% medium hair density, it's a great choice for anyone who wants to add length and volume to their already existing hair. Check out one of our clients Andrew rocking the P41 below!

Another option is the Angelina wig. This is a silicon skin wig cap that uses a diamond lace top for comfort and durability. It comes with poly skin tabs for easy attachment while there are also silicon strips which allow the wearer to attach it securely without the need for any adhesives. Finally, it comes with a French lace front which makes for a natural hairline. This lace front also transitions to the diamond lace seamlessly as well. You can check out how it looks on Andrew below who further proves wigs are not only for those who identify as women!

Finally, there’s the Queen 18 top piece. This is a hair topper that uses a French lace top to provide breathability, comfort and most importantly, a natural look. It’s also constructed with scalloped poly skin painting on the sides and the back which allows for attachment options with tape or glue if you prefer. The poly skin also makes this unit very durable while it uses 18’’ of human Indian Remy hair with a density of 125%.

In reality, all our hairpieces can be worn regardless of how you identify as. However, we are planning on adding even more gender neutral hairpieces to our inventory so people from the LGBTQ2S+ community will have even more options to choose from. Stick around for more updates!
